Have you guys ever thought about why we keep doing things that are obviously bad for us? Like... We know that if we exercise we'll feel better, but we choose not to. We make excuses up, we choose to be lazy, we make the same bad decision over and over again knowing that it will affect our health, our future, our happiness. It's like we choose unhappiness. Due to what, though? I mean, what do we get in return? The more I think about it, the more I realise that I get absolutely nothing in return when I choose lazyness. When I procrastinate, it seems like a good idea at that moment, because I don't want to do whatever it is that I should be doing, but what do I do instead? Absolutely nothing. In those moments, it's so obvious that I should do what I have to do, and then it will be done and I will be free and I will feel better and be able to actually do something else I'd like to do. No, now that I'm thinking about it, procrastinating is not the same thing as making bad choices for ourselves. I mean, procrastinating is a bad choice we make over and over again, but it's not what my mind is ranting about. What I'm trying to understand really hard is why we are our own worst enemies, I think. You guys know what I mean, right? Think about a difficult conversation, for example. It's difficult as fuck, but necessary. And if we have a choice, we won't do it. Even if it's something 100% NECESSARY. Exercising, too. Making some changes. Leaving a relationship. WORKING on a relationship. Working on ourselves. FINALLY learning spanish. Coding. How to play guitar. I mean! We ALL have at least 10 things we would love to work on, and that if we did, we'd be happier and more accomplished and all, and yet we CHOOSE not to work on it. Sometimes we tell ourselves that it's a money issue. Or that we simply don't have the time. Or that we got too much on our plates at the moment. And that can all be true. But they're excuses. Some more than others, depending on the situation, but still excuses, though. Right? I mean. I don't have money for a gym membership. But instead of sitting on my butt and watching Netflix, I could put on Youtube instead and literally just search for "Exercising at home" videos. I don't have time for myself, but if I did all my work without procrastination, I'd be able to meditade for at lears 10 minutes before an appointment. I do have so many things - PROBLEMS! - on my plate right now, but if I exercised and medidated - instead of worrying so much about my problems, and doing nothing else, I'd be able to look at my problems differently AND be happier. Okay, maybe you can't afford guitar lessons, but what if you tried to exchange the lessons with a friend who knows how to play and could use some help with something else you know? Yeah, that could not work, but... it could work, too. The universe is OUT THERE, you know? And WHITHIN ourselves, too. There are so many things for us to try, to do, people to help, things to learn, experiences to have. And there are so many things that make us what we are whithin us, and we don't bother to look at them, and try to understand it to be able to make some changes and become better people. But the thing is... We all KNOW that. We do. We just pretend to forget it so we can continue doing - or not doing - the things we already know that don't work! The things that don't help us, don't make us feel love, the things that don't excite us, that makes us feel miserable, even. What I'm trying to understand here is... Why?
